Unforeseen Diversion

It was an unknown fragility

paper thin,

a crisp leaf underfoot

Growing up behind a gossamer veil

indiscernible,

masking my weaknesses

Now torn, a gaping hole

clarity abounds

with bitter obviosity

So I am left the fool.

My self-perception cradled

in the palm of my hand.

The facets of my personality

unknowingly attributed to something else.

My inner monologue shifting

between vitriolic criticism

and soothing compassion.

Pity is shunned

in the wake of a new freedom

discovering that I was on the underpass,

prevented from reaching the surface

where I now stand:

vulnerable

resilient

authentic.

My true self.

Healed.

What of these years?

The transference from weak to strong

What of those thoughts?

Lifted from darkness to white light

A puncture of time

distilled sadness

bottled, diluted

evaporated by contentment

That easy feeling of self-love

a cessation of searching

For under every stone

behind every tree

I find myself

My soul staring back at me

life force illuminated

guardian’s wings enveloping

encouraging me forwards

Your vibrancy stills me

Eloquence that pervades me

Heart on your sleeve

Strength emanating …

Two extremes, you are

with your wit, your soul

Such humour, wrapping me up

Years since I felt the joy of laughter

Kindred spirits, we are

The same

an intangible connection

Emotional Suicide

Cloud Shaped Heart On Sky by iamharin/FreeDigitalPhotos.net

When he said it,

it felt like fairydust was being thrown from the heavens

When he looked in my eyes,

I felt my soul light up

When he pulled me towards him,

it felt like coming home

Our lips touching,

I was so thirsty for him

His gentle kisses on my neck,

so surreal

My heart fluttering,

my senses awakened,

my mind telling me

I’ve just jumped to my own death
